My personal efforts to reform California’s political process started
with Proposition 11 in 2008. Approved by voters, Proposition 11
took politics out of redistricting, and has created more competitive
legislative and districts where voters now have a real choice.
Next came Proposition 14 in June 2010, which created the “top two” primary system, giving California voters more choices and greater ability to elect the best candidates for Congress and the Legislature.
In November, 2010, I sponsored Proposition 20, which extended Prop 11's redistricting reforms to include California's 53 Congressional districts, which voters approved by a wide margin.
How committed am I to this effort? I have personally spent millions of dollars and invested much of my personal time in supporting these reforms and successfully defending them against political challenges all the way to the California Supreme Court.
And now I’m chairing Spirit of Democracy California. I invite you to join me in this important effort.
